Rothkohl ~ Braised Red Cabbage

1 small head red cabbage
1 small yellow onion
1 granny smith apple
4 + tablespoons butter
1/2 cup cider vinegar or red wine vinegar
3-4 tablespoons sugar
1/4 tsp caraway seeds
1 whole allspice
2 whole cloves

Slice cabbage or shred thin. Chop up small onion, peel and chop granny smith apple.
Melt butter - add onions and saute a couple of minutes. Add cabbage, apples, cider, sugar,
caraway seeds , allspice and cloves.

Cook covered over medium low heat until cabbage wilts. 30 minutes or so. Remove allspice and cloves.
Season to taste.
